Vikrant Massey

Vikrant Massey stunned fans on Monday morning by announcing his retirement from acting at the age of 37. He shared that he would meet his audience “one last time” in 2025. While some speculated that the decision stemmed from personal reasons, others linked it to the lukewarm performance of his latest film, The Sabarmati Report.

The Sabarmati Report: Vikrant’s Final Big-Screen Venture

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report is a crime thriller based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident in Gujarat. Despite being Vikrant’s highest-grossing opening as a solo lead, the film has collected ₹28.25 crore at the domestic box office in 17 days. While the movie remains in theaters, it has struggled to match the steady daily growth seen in his earlier blockbuster, 12th Fail.

Released last year, 12th Fail became a sleeper hit, earning ₹56.38 crore in India. The film, inspired by the true story of a UPSC aspirant, resonated with audiences and continued to attract viewers even during its digital release on Disney+ Hotstar. Its 14-week theatrical run cemented Vikrant’s place in the industry.

In between 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report, Vikrant also starred in Aditya Nimbalkar’s crime thriller Section 36, which premiered directly on Netflix India.

Vikrant’s Announcement Shocks Fans

On Instagram, Vikrant Massey posted a heartfelt note about his decision to step away from acting. He wrote, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support (namaste emoji). But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also, as an Actor.”

He also mentioned his upcoming projects, Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, as his final two films before stepping back. “So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between (red heart emoji). Forever indebted (red heart emoji),” he added.

Fans Divided Over the Announcement

Vikrant Massey unexpected decision has sparked a debate among his fans. While some viewed it as a brave choice, others speculated that it might only be a temporary hiatus. On Reddit, a fan remarked, “It’s a break. He says he’ll be back later. He’s young and talented, no doubt he’ll return. People love his work.”

Another fan pointed out Vikrant’s long career, saying, “We keep forgetting he started young. I remember watching him in kids’ shows when I was a teenager. Now I’m in my mid-30s. Good for him for prioritizing family and parents.”

Meanwhile, others praised his courage to step back while his career is thriving. One fan commented, “It’s such a bold move to do this at a time when his career is on the rise. It shows he values what feels right over external pressures. Respect to him for this decision.”

Vikrant Massey’s journey, from his debut in 2007 at the age of 19 to becoming a critically acclaimed actor, has been remarkable. While his fans await his final films, his decision to retire remains a hot topic of discussion.
