Vasco Da Gama was a Portuguese explorer and the first to discover sea passage to India from Europe by way of the Cape of Good Hope connecting the Atlantic and the Indian oceans.
Christopher Columbus was sponsored by the Catholic Monarchs of Spain to discover sea passage to the American continents by crossing the Atlantic Ocean four times.
Ferdinand Magellan a Portuguese explorer was sponsored by Spain to voyage west across the Atlantic in search of the East Indies.He is the first from Europe to cross the Pacific Ocean and circumscribe the world. The Pacific Ocean was named after him.
History of tourism in India?
Thomas Cook is known as the father of contemporary tourism. The first rail round trip in England in July 1841 was managed by him. Indian tourism industry began in the 19th century when Sir John Sargent Committee was established in 1945 to facilitate and develop Indian tourism.
